Today, I´m not feeling too well or too fit, I´ve had a headache the whole day and I´m pretty sleepy, and since I need to endure the night shift, I´ve tried to get some sleep in advance 🌆😏And because I´d like some change, too, my dear friends, today, we won´t do any pop song, no, no...instead, we´ll have a look into South American folclore, into another genre of music and highly local traditions.
A song "Alma de rezabaile" is a traditional folclore song originated in Argentina and tells a story of a young girl named Telesita or La Telesita, who was born in the province of Santiago del Estero in the 19th century. She was famous because of her passion for dance and burned in the fire in the second half of the same century. After her death, she became a myth, a good spirit protecting people, a symbol of torture or miracle woman who helps to invocate the dance spirit and find lost objects. Stories about her were spread mainly through oral tradition. She is honored by a musical style called "la chacarera" (like this song), and there are celebrations and processions dedicated especially to her (telesiadas) during which a prayer and a music are joined together ("rezabaile"- pray-dance) and people dance until they don´t fall down with exhaustion (which, in fact, I´d like to try personally👅😇).
Music of Latin America is usually accompanied with the rhytm of drums, and if Isay that every music genre and country of LATAM has some of its unique kind, I guess that I won´t be that wrong. In "las chacareras" the typical drum is called bombo legüero (I add the picture here, although they play also in the video). I also add a picture of a toy called spinning top, for those who may not know what the song is talking about 😏
So, if you are, by any chance, a dancer and there is time when you feel that you´re losing your paasion and dedication to it, you already know to who you can pray and how to do it 👀💃😎😛

Telesita, Telesita Te has vuelto lluvia, te has vuelto luna, Te has vuelto flor de los campos Te has vuelto brisa que me perfuma. |
Duša tanca a modlitby Tanec sa už začal Tam v Santiago del Estero Celá džungľa buráca Počuť údery dvojhlavého bubna Celú noc na slávnosti Pod sladkou žiarou hviezd Telesita tancovala Ona bola tanec, ona bola kráľovná Za nocí v Santiagu del Estero Tie horúce noci, čisté striebristé noci Sa mesiac nad horami Vylieva v jagavom svetle Tancuj, Telesita Sladká a voňavá ako kvety Kričali dedinčania Opití láskou Ktohovie, čo to úbožiatko hľadá Možno jej tanec dá útechu Tvoja sukňa víri Tvoje bosé nohy, ohnivý vĺčik Telesita, Telesita Stala si sa dažďom, stala si sa lunou Stala si sa lúčnými kvetmi Stala si sa vánkom, čo ma obklopuje vôňou Prešlo už mnoho rokov Ale tvoj ľud na teba nikdy nezabudne Tancuje modlitebné tance Aby tvoja duša stále horela Tancuj, Telesita Sladká a voňavá ako kvety Kričali dedinčania Opití láskou |

A soul of rezabaile („pray-dance“) The dance has already begun There in Santiago del Estero The whole jungle resounds The bombo legüero is pounding All night at the celebration Under the sweet shine of stars Telesita was dancing She was dance, she was queen The nights of Santiago del Estero Burning nights, pure silver nights The moon above the mountain Was spilling in a bright light Let´s dance, Telesita Sweet and fragrant like the flowers The village people were shouting Drunk by love |
What is the poor girl looking for Maybe a dance will comfort her Your skirt is swirling Your bare feet, a spinning top in fire Telesita, Telesita You´ve turned into rain, you´ve turned into moon You´ve become the meadow flowers You´ve become a breeze that perfumes me Many years have passed But your people never forget you They dance and pray in pray dance To keep your soul burning Let´s dance, Telesita Sweet and fragrant like the flowers The village people were shouting Drunk by love |
